About Our Founder
Jonathan was born and raised in Ashkelon to a Zionist family. He is the eldest of five siblings: Gilad (21), Yarin (19), Daniel (19), and Binyamin (13). His family heritage blends Moroccan and Dutch roots. His mother, originally from the Netherlands, immigrated to Israel at age 25, converted to Judaism, and studied History and Semitic Languages at the Hebrew University, where she met his father, an Economics student.

Fighting to Live a Life
Last year was life-changing for Jonathan Ben Hamou. Severely injured while fighting in Gaza, he lost his leg. After months of rehabilitation, he continued to endure intense nerve pain and struggled with a prosthetic that caused pain with every step.
Finding Hope, Creating Change
In the USA, Jonathan found hope and a solution to his pain. He underwent advanced surgery and was fitted with a state-of-the-art prosthetic. Aware that many other wounded veterans face the same challenges, he was determined to help. Motivated by this mission, he built a network of volunteers and donors — and from that, Care For Heroes was born.
